Day 131

Day: 131 Miles: 11.3 Trip: 1788.1  Started: 1760.4 Destination:  Hikers Welcome Hostel, Glencliff NH

Today started out pretty good with grey skies, but cool weather.  I had a pretty good run with nice trail.  Today I meet up with Jay.  I had originally planned to meet him at Kinsman Notch just after Mt. Moosilauke but I am slightly behind schedule so we decided to meet at the hostel in Glencliff.  I pushed it a little so I could get there before he arrived.  I got in about 11 am.  Jay is leaving his car in the park at Pinkham notch and our mutual friend Rob drove up to spend some time site seeing and shuttled him down to Glencliff.  They arrived at about noon and we all went down into the village of Glencliff to get lunch and catch up a bit.  We originally thought about starting right out from the hostel, but decided to stay for the night to beat the weather that was supposed to come in during the day.  At the the hostel Jay was able to meet a number of people that I have been hiking with on and off for a while.  It was a great introduction to 'trail life' but may also have been a little bit of culture shock as well.  Tomorrow will be the true start of the Whites.  I'm looking forward to some of the best views on the trail.
